It is made of rust-proof 304 stainless steel, ensuring its durability and longevity. The strainer's basket is made from 30# mesh, making it perfect for catching the fine ice chips that make it through the hawthorn strainer. It has an outer diameter of 10 cm / 4 inches and an inner diameter of approximately 3.5 inches or 9 cm. However, the strainer's balance point is about an inch up the handle, making it difficult to balance on a glass hands-free. Thus, it would need to be held in one hand as you pour from a cocktail shaker through a hawthorn strainer with the other hand. Likewise, if using it for tea, it still has to be held by hand as you pour the already steeped loose tea from a tea pot.
