    Answer: Yes, the plastic strainer can be replaced with compatible strainers.
  • Question: What is the outlet size for this drain?

    Answer: This drain has a 1.5 inch side outlet.
  • Question: Is this drain suitable for stand-up showers?

    Answer: Yes, this drain is suitable for stand-up showers and can be used to transition tubs into walk-in showers.
  • Question: How do you add a trap to this? In a low profile situation?

    Answer: I had to place the trap a foot or two away from the drain fixture, where I had some working room. It was a tight fit, but it worked. I looked on line and they have what they call an in-line flap trap. The trap is linear with a flapper that opens to let water out, but closes to keep sewer gas from coming back up the drain. Here is one from Oatey available at the Home Depot. Plumbers can check this.
  • Question: Does this drain contain a built-in P trap?

    Answer: No, there is no trap attached to this.
  • Question: How thick of a substrate can this drain cover. I have a 1" thick tub floor that I need to install the drain through. Will this work?

    Answer: It worked great for my basement bathroom, so I did not have to bust concrete. If Plumbers need instructions, they can check it out.
  • Question: Do you use plumbers putty or silicone to seal this drain? If not, what should I use?

    Answer: Plumbers putty is okay, but if installing on any type of acrylic use silicone only. A chemical reaction with putty and acrylic can lead to cracking.
  • Question: Does anyone know the size of the strainer? I would like to by a different color one.

    Answer: The dimensions of the drain is 6 x 4.3 x 8.8 inches.
  • Question: What size hole is this intended to go through?

    Answer: The hole is a standard sized shower drain. 4 inches.
  • Question: Does anyone know how the gaskets are to be placed? There were no instructions included.

    Answer: If I am not mistaken there was a rubber gasket and a fiber (paper gasket). I installed them both underneath the shower with the rubber against the shower floor and paper last next to the nut. That was a logical use of them.
  • Question: The measurements in the picture showes 5.75 inches from front to back but the reviews say it’s 8.8 inches what is the correct measurement?

    Answer: The 2-inch side outlet drains are 8.8 inches from front to back whereas our 1.5 side drains are 5.75 inches.
  • Question: Will this fit in a pan requiring standard 4.25 strainer size? I see the measurement is 4.3.

    Answer: It fit fine in mine. Most pans are fiberglass or plastic and are easy to enlarge if need be.
