Customer Questions & Answers
-
Question:
What are the key features of the DJI FM-15 Camcorder Microphone?
Answer: The DJI FM-15 Camcorder Microphone features a sensitivity of 32 dB and a frequency response range of 100-10,000 Hz, making it an excellent option for capturing clear audio with minimal background noise. This wired microphone utilizes a 3.5 mm jack and includes an 18-inch cable, providing flexibility and convenience while recording. The microphone is designed for users capturing video content, interviews, or storytelling, ensuring that high-quality sound is prioritized alongside visual elements. -
Question:
Is the DJI FM-15 compatible with all camcorders?
Answer: The DJI FM-15 Camcorder Microphone is primarily compatible with devices that have a 3.5 mm audio input. Most standard camcorders, DSLRs, and even smartphones equipped with the appropriate input can utilize this microphone. To ensure compatibility, check your device's specifications for a 3.5 mm jack before purchasing. The versatility makes it suitable for various recording setups, making it a favorite among videographers and content creators. -
Question:
How does the sound quality of the DJI FM-15 compare to built-in microphones?
Answer: The sound quality of the DJI FM-15 significantly exceeds that of most built-in microphones. With a focused pickup pattern and reduced background noise capability, it provides clearer, more professional audio captures. Users typically find that external microphones like the FM-15 reveal subtleties in sound, enhancing overall production quality. This is particularly beneficial for interviews, podcasts, and filmmaking, where audio clarity is critical. -
Question:
Can I use the DJI FM-15 for outdoor recordings?
Answer: Yes, the DJI FM-15 can be used for outdoor recordings, but certain precautions should be taken. While the microphone provides excellent audio capture, outdoor environments can introduce wind noise and other sounds that might interfere with clarity. Utilizing windshields or foam covers can help reduce these unwanted noises, ensuring that your recordings remain crisp, making it ideal for outdoor interviews, vlogging, and video content creation. -
Question:
What is the length of the cable, and is it long enough for most recording situations?
Answer: The DJI FM-15 comes with an 18-inch cable, which is typically sufficient for most close-range recording situations. This length allows users to connect the microphone directly to their camcorders or devices without excessive slack. However, for scenarios that require more distance, like filming at a greater range, additional cables or extension options may be necessary. This adaptability makes it a practical choice for dynamic recording environments. -
Question:
What other devices can the DJI FM-15 connect to besides camcorders?
Answer: Besides camcorders, the DJI FM-15 can be connected to any device with a standard 3.5 mm audio input, including DSLRs, smartphones, tablets, and audio recorders. This versatility allows users to leverage the microphone for various applications such as vlogging, recording podcasts, or conducting interviews with different devices, ultimately enhancing the audio capture across diverse projects. -
Question:
How do I maintain and take care of the DJI FM-15 microphone?
Answer: To maintain the DJI FM-15 microphone, ensure it is stored in a dry and dust-free environment when not in use. Clean the microphone windscreen regularly to prevent buildup of dust or moisture, which can affect sound quality. Avoid exposing the microphone to extreme temperatures or physical stress. Proper care will prolong the life of your microphone, ensuring it remains a reliable tool for all your audio recording needs. -
Question:
What accessories are recommended for the DJI FM-15?
Answer: For optimal performance with the DJI FM-15, consider using accessories such as a foam windscreen to reduce wind noise during outdoor recordings and a shock mount to minimize handling noise. An audio mixer or interface can also enhance recording quality and offer more control over sound levels. Using these accessories together can significantly improve both the quality and versatility of your audio recordings. -
Question:
Can I use the DJI FM-15 with a computer for online streaming?
Answer: Yes, the DJI FM-15 can be used with a computer for online streaming or video calls, provided that the computer has a 3.5 mm audio input. You may need a compatible adapter if the input types differ. This microphone is ideal for enhancing sound quality during webinars, online videos, or streaming applications, allowing for clearer communication with your audience. -

DJI Camera CP.ZM.000321 Editorial Review
The DJI CP.ZM.000321 Osmo Battery is a great addition to your DJI Osmo setup. It provides excellent sound quality and significantly improves the audio experience. However, it is important to note that the microphone is not adjustable, which may be a downside for some users. Overall, the quality of this product is impressive and it is a genuine DJI part. The shipping process was also quick, despite not being a prime item. Although it received positive reviews, it's worth mentioning that a few customers reported that the mic did not work with their Osmo or any other device.
